On Saturday, February 1st, 2025, I had the absolute privilege of spending the day with the Richland High School Baseball team for their Media Day. What an exciting, busy, and rewarding day it turned out to be! From heartwarming moments with the senior players and their moms to capturing the energy of the entire team, it was a day packed with memories, fun, and of course, baseball.

The Day Kicked Off with Senior Photos and Family Moments

The morning began in the dugout with the senior players and their wonderful moms. The love and pride were palpable as the moms stood alongside their sons, all smiles, ready for their big moment. It was such a special opportunity to capture those heartfelt moments – the look of joy in a mother’s eyes as she posed with her son in his baseball gear was something truly special.

After those cherished photos were taken, we had some free time to take some playful, candid shots of just the senior players. These photos had a lighthearted vibe and showcased their personalities before the rest of the varsity team arrived for their group photo.

Varsity Team Photos & Green Screen Fun

Once the varsity players arrived, we quickly moved on to the team photo. Everyone was all smiles and ready to showcase their team spirit. After the team photo, we headed inside for a bit of fun with the green screen! The players took turns posing for updated headshots that would make their way into the 2025 program. They also had a blast posing for their varsity banners, which will proudly hang on the fence during game days, a true testament to their dedication and talent.

Mid-Day Break: Editing and Sneak Peek

After all that excitement, it was time for a well-deserved lunch. But not for me! Being the busy photographer that I am, I headed home to upload and begin editing some of the photos. I managed to quickly edit one of the team photos to show everyone when we returned for the second half of the day. There’s nothing like sharing those first sneak peeks and seeing everyone’s reactions!

JV1 & JV2 Photos: More Memories Captured

At 2 p.m., we jumped back into action, starting with headshots for the JV1 players. As we wrapped that up, it was time to capture the headshots for the JV2 team. The energy never slowed down, and everyone was ready to make the most of this unique day.

Once the headshots were done, we headed out to the field to capture team photos for both the JV1 and JV2 squads. These images will be a lasting reminder of the hard work and camaraderie that goes into each season.

Individual Mini Sessions and Wrapping Up

As the day came to a close, a few players signed up for individual mini sessions. We made our way back to the field for some more personalized shots, and I was able to capture some truly amazing moments. By the time the day wrapped up, I had taken over 1,500 images! It was a full day, but every moment was worth it.

The Edit Begins

The next six days were spent editing baseball photos – adjusting lighting, perfecting shots, and making sure every player looked their best. It was a lot of work, but the results were well worth it.

A Message to the Royals

As I reflect on this incredible day, I want to send my best wishes to the Richland Royals for an amazing 2025 season! I hope this season leads you all to district and state championships, and I can’t wait to cheer you on from the stands. I’ll be there with a bag of Cracker Jacks, singing "Take Me Out to the Ball Game," and proudly watching the team that I had the honor of capturing in photos.
